CAT5 cable is used to connect Net2 control units together. This forms the network and allows central control from a PC. Belden CR8723 is the preferred cable but this is a good alternative. Installation – Internal or external CAT5 is used as required. A single dataline can be extended up to 1,000m. If a greater distance is required then a Net2 RS485 repeater can be used. A Net2 system can include several datalines. CAT5 cable is unscreened. Only 4 cores are used for data. The remaining cores should be connected to the ‘SCREEN’ terminal.
