I can remember tumbling rocks with my dad as a kid, my mom always made us do it in an outbuilding on our farm because it was so dang noisy! But I absolutely loved it, and I want to be able to do it with my kids. However, we live in the suburbs and do not have an outbuilding. I was very nervous to bring this rock tumbler into our home, but I am so grateful I did! The only place we could reasonably put this, that is not in the main living space, is directly outside of our garage door where the outlet is. After having run this for multiple days, through multiple Rock cycles, I can say that it is much quieter than my laundry dryer! The noise does not bother me in the slightest, especially with the mild drywall barrier of our home. This is a perfectly manageable noise. My husband particularly likes that he can set the timer for how many days it should run and then if he doesn’t have time to take it out when it’s over, he can just allow the timer to go longer. Obviously that’s not a great solution for all rocks, but it is a solution for all of the harder rocks in our backyard that our children want to polish. The instructions were comprehensive, easy to follow, and came with great images for even our children to follow along with. It was smaller than I remember. My rock tumbler being as a child, only holding about 7 or 8 pebbles with enough room for them to tumble around, but when I saw the price point, I realized that it was very appropriately sized! This smaller size is also nice because it means we cannot infinitely keep adding rocks to it, as my young children want to do generally. For $30, this is a very well put together and durable tumbler that does not irritate every single person in the home and will provide a lot oentertain.
